Ariana Grande's Engagement Ring Might Be a Tribute to Her Grandfather
Ariana Grande is officially a bride-to-be, and her new engagement ring from fiancé Dalton Gomez might just have the sweetest backstory.
Grande confirmed the engagement news on Instagram with a series of photos featuring her and Gomez, as well as a close-up shot of her gorgeous, albeit untraditional, new hardware. The singer's sparkler features two stones—an oval-cut diamond set next to an ivory pearl—on a thin gold band. But the pearl, according to Grande's most passionate fans, is believed to be a family heirloom.
Back in 2014, Grande tweeted a photo of a ring given to her by her grandmother. It featured a pearl that was part of a tie pin that belonged to her late grandfather. Some believe the pearl from that ring is the very same pearl now featured in her engagement ring.
"Nonna had a ring made for me w/ the pearl from grandpa's tie pin. she says he told her in a dream it'd protect me. <3," Grande said of the sentimental piece of jewelry years ago.
Grande and Gomez have yet to confirm if the pearl is in fact the same one from her grandfather's tie pin, but that didn't stop fans from speculating on social media and getting emotional over the possible sweet connection.
No matter the pearl's origin story, Grande's family is overjoyed about Ariana and Dalton's upcoming nuptials. "I am so excited to welcome Dalton Gomez into our family!" wrote Grande's mother, Joan Grande, on Twitter following the engagement news. "Ariana, I love you and Dalton so much!!!! Here's to happily ever after! YAY! xoxoxo"
